Lack of Session Obsession
Justin Farrar wrote a piece this week on his love of Session Beer, and the lack Session Beer options currently available. Great article, and not just because I was quoted. It’s a quick read, but a good one. Enjoy it!
Hop Session and the Dustbin of History
When we sold Tremont Ale, I didn’t hang onto much memorabilia. I try to live lean, and packing away a bunch of crap for nostalgia value was not on my mind at the time. Most items were sent to the dustbin. However, I did keep two medals from the 1997 Chicago Real Ale Festival, and their place on a [...]
Rating beer, or rating buzz.
Great post by Andy Crouch on the impact of price, scarcity, label, style and ABV when “rating” beers. What is “best” is often determined by attributes unrelated to the beer itself. In my mind, what’s “best” is what’s right for the occasion.
Update: BAC & craft beer experiment
Update (August 11, 2010)
Many questions have been coming in regarding my BAC / Breathalyzer experiment (see the original post below). Findings? There were “findings” to be sure. Notch Hop Session Cask!
Look for Notch Hop Session Cask tappings in the next few weeks at the Haven, Deep Ellum, Redbones and American Craft. The cask conditioned version of Hop Session is a little different from what you will find on draft taps. The Hop Session Cask is a true presentation of session ale – naturally carbonated and served at [...]
Notch Hop Session Release
It’s here, finally, Notch Hop Session, with the world wide debut at American Craft on August 5th. Here’s all the info you need on the event, and the beer.
Pretty damn cool.
Notch Session Descriptions
What’s up next? Notch Hop Session and Notch Summer Session. Look for updates, and special tappings of these new Session styles (cask too). Don’t miss our more frequent updates on our Facebook page and our Twitter feed.
NOTCH SESSION ALES (Now at bat)
Summer Session will hit the street around July 4th, and Hop Session around August 5th. [...]
Notch Summer Session Release
It’s Summer and it’s hot. It’s really hot. What a perfect time for the debut of Notch Summer Session. Notch Summer Session is a style defying beer – a hybrid Rye Ale, American Wheat, German Kolsch. We also borrowed from a vintners practice of fining but not filtering, where the yeast is remove, but no filtration [...]
